The 3/24 Water Symposium will be rescheduled,
date TBD, but not until Fall
(Site suggestions most welcome!)
Two of our key speakers had to suddenly cancel, so we've postponed the Water Commons Symposium until the Fall. Please check back for updates, which will also be posted to our campaign listserv.
Claudia Torrelli of Friends of the Earth, Uruguay will share the inspirational
story of how a movement was built to drive the right to water into their constitution.
Penobscot tribal elder Butch Phillips will lead an opening ceremony.
Ed Friedman, Chair of Friends of Merrymeeting Bay will briefly highlight some of the bad actors along Maine's Rivers and make a case for why we should enact a formal Public Trust Doctrine encompassing these arteries.
Workshops include an interactive presentation by Nancy Price, Co-Chair of the Alliance for Democracy on the "Tapestry of the Commons" weaving the cultural & natural commons together.
